Reading is an important habit that contributes to the development of language, information, lifelong learning, critical thinking and directly supports academic success. In our school, we carry out many activities to achieve our goal of “raising literate individuals”. The most important of these is reading poems and stories, understanding what is read, picture and image telling, telling stories and helping to develop rhetoric skills. In our classes, which are based on reading the work, thinking about what is read, and expressing their thoughts in written and verbal form, our students acquire listening, speaking, writing, and even grammar skills in addition to their reading acquisitions. All levels spend hours in a week reading books in our school library. Students can use the library for free reading as well as for individual or group research tasks. All using methods are supported by the activities and presentations about the common books read by the whole class.
